About Forge Studios
Forge Studios was founded by Jan van Greunen, a South African living in China with an obsession that got slightly out of hand.
It started in April 2020. Covid lockdown. A Warhammer 40,000 starter set. Hours of YouTube tutorials, Patreon guides, and late nights experimenting with every technique he could find — then combining them into something entirely his own. Within a few months, friends were asking for commissions. Within 18 months of picking up his first brush, Forge Studios was born as a side hustle. In August 2024, Jan quit his day job and went full time.
The studio is based in China — but make no mistake about the standards it holds itself to. Every painter at Forge Studios is trained to deliver at Bronze and Silver tier. For the more demanding Gold and Forge tier commissions, our most skilled painters take the lead — selected for each project based on the techniques required. Jan personally oversees every single project that passes through the studio, ensuring it meets the Forge Studios standard before it ever reaches a client. For those special commissions that require a truly unique touch — the kind of project where every brushstroke needs to feel essential — Jan picks up the brush himself.
Every model that leaves Forge Studios is inspected, every client receives regular WIP updates, and every commission is backed by clear English communication from start to finish — shipped securely and tracked worldwide.

We'll provide a detailed quote within 48 hours. A 50% deposit secures your slot in the queue.
Regular WIP photos are shared throughout, giving you full visibility and revision opportunities.
Final balance due on completion. Models are carefully packaged and shipped internationally with full tracking.
